Video game news publication Famitsu on Wednesday reported that Nintendo will release a microphone headset for the Nintendo DS to allow owners to chat live in online games.
The headset will drop to retail on Sept. 14 for 1,200 yen or $10 U.S. The launch will support the release of Pokemon Diamond / Pearl offerings to be released in Japan on Sept. 28.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection has served 2M downloads to Nintendo DS owners. In addition, the service has logged more than 70M individual game sessions in nine months of operation.
Current Wi-Fi Connection games include Animal Crossing: Wild World, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Star Fox Command.
The Nintendo DS is the best-selling current handheld in global markets. It competes against Sony's PSP handheld entertainment system.
